Great fires broke out on Wednesday morning in wooded areas near Jerusalem and then spread quickly. Officers removed residents from many villages about 20 km west of Jerusalem, while firefighters were deployed in the area to try to control the fire.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he is considering seeking aid from Greece and other countries to fight fires in the Jerusalem region.
Speaking to the Fire Brigade, Netanyahu ordered his services to contact Greece and other neighboring countries if needed to fight fires.
“We still do not know how this fire will evolve,” the Israeli prime minister said.

According to pictures of the French agency from the area, many rescue aircraft were developed on the spot.
“Israeli police, border police, firefighters, rescue services, nature and parks, local security services and other emergency services continue to respond to the spread of fires,” police said in a statement.
