The executive director of the organization Arnon de Mello, Luís Pereira Duarte Amorim, convicted in the same process that was at the Federal Police Superintendence in Alagoas on Friday morning (25). He was not released to visit the president, who is undergoing a custody hearing.
Amorim said he was coming from courtesy to the former president. He must return after the end of the custody hearing.
“I don’t have much to say. What to say, it won’t add anything. Everyone surprised and worried about the situation. This is something that affects everyone,” he said.
He indicated that the lawyers analyze the fact that the arrest was defined in a decision of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Court (STF).
“They are seeing [os advogados] This side of the monocratic decision, since it was collegiate, but it is the understanding that is being reviewed and logical that, in due course, they will speak out, “he said.
“I came to pay him a visit. He was in Maceió, I was not with him. By the way, he has been here for a day and was returning to Brasilia to perform.”
By the decision of Moraes, Amorim will have to comply with restrictive penalties, such as limitations to weekends and service to the community, in an institution to be defined during criminal execution.
“It’s a normal thing, foreseen in the normal process and one thing that was imposed has to be fulfilled,” said Amorim.
Collor’s defense asked the STF on Friday that the former president is due to the advanced age and the health problems he faces.
Collor is 75 years old and, according to defense, is treatment against Parkinson’s disease, severe sleep apnea and bipolar affective disorder. The former president makes daily use of medications and has periodic medical visits.
