Argentine President Javier Milei revealed that he apologized to Pope Francis in a meeting with the Pontiff held in February 2024 at the Vatican.
The revelation was made by Milei when he landed in Rome on Friday (25), to accompany the Pope’s funeral, says the Argentine newspaper Clarín.
Also according to the newspaper, Milei lamented his harsh criticism of the pontiff and said that at the time, Francisco responded to his apology saying that “they were youth errors.” Milei even called Pope Francis a “representative of evil on earth.”

The Argentine president also classified the pontiff as “the most important Argentine in history” and told more details of the meeting held on February 12 last year. Among them, who presented his rabbi and “spiritual guide” Axel Wahnish, to the Catholic.
Born in Argentina as Jorge Bergoglio, Francisco did not return to Argentina after becoming Pope, despite invitations made by President Milei himself.

According to the Vatican, 166 delegations from countries and international entities were present, totaling more than 50 heads of state and 10 monarchs, including, in addition to Milei, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and the president of the United States, Donald Trump.
