In a 42-minute make-up in Paris City Hall, the president (PT) charged Congress courage to regulate social networks, said the former president () will be tried for the deaths in Covid’s pandemic and said he has done twice as much as what the predecessor has done throughout his term.
He further stated that he could never be a prime minister if Brazil adopted parliamentarism.
The speech took place during a honor of the mayor of the French capital, the socialist Anne Hidalgo, to the petista and the Brazilian community in France.
“We have half a dozen application companies that send in the world. We need to work on the regulation of digital networks. Parliament must have courage. If the parliament does not have, that has the supreme cut to make a regulation. So this is the fight that we have ahead now. It is a fight that will need more social participation,” said Lula.
In the speech, he made two references to Bolsonaro. The first was in a critique of the negationism of the ultra -right.
“The Bolsonaro, there will be a day when he will be tried as a criminal, for not respecting science and allowing in Brazil to die more than 700,000 people from Covid, when he oriented people to take medicine who scientifically did not fight Covid, when he made speech so that people would not get a vaccine because he turned gay, turning a woman, lula.
The second reference was to compare the achievements of his mandate with those of the Bolsonaro government.
“I am in the presidency trying to do what it is possible to do. I am sure that in two years and four months of government, we have already done twice what another government did and what the scammer did. In the field of education, health, construction, job creation, salary increase, I am sure we did double,” he said.
Lula then referred to a future “campaign”, without clarifying if he referred to the 2026 elections. “I am convinced that we will make a very tough campaign, not only in Brazil, but in the world, that the truth cannot be defeated by fake news and cretinice.”
And he implied that he cannot retire from politics anytime soon. “Regrettably I’m promising my family to stop fighting since 1978. See how old you are, and each day increases our responsibility plus our commitment.”
The president said it is a product of democracy and would never come to power in a parliamentary regime.
“If it wasn’t for democracy, I had never arrived the President of the Republic of my country. There are a lot of people who say that parliamentarism is better in Brazil. But I would never be chosen Prime Minister within the National Congress. So the only chance I have is exactly the people to vote. So I am the only Brazilian who has three presidency mandates elected directly by the people.”
