The Civil Police opened an inquiry after receiving complaints from central, that they were being extorted by traffickers.

According to police, residents reported anonymously that traffickers who work in the community are demanding half of the value offered by management (Republicans) to families who agreed to leave the site. The figure could reach $ 100,000 in some cases.

After gathering informal testimonials in the police now try to identify the perpetrators of the extortion. The case is being conducted by the 1st Siege (Specialized Central to Suppression of Crimes and Occurrences).

In an audio attached to the police inquiry, a resident says she is feeling pressured and afraid to the point of having difficulty sleeping at night.

According to her, traffickers say that if residents do not commit to pass on the benefit of $ 100,000 or $ 70,000, they will lose the registration with the government and the right to housing. It also threatens to pursue family members who leave the community without committing to share the benefit.

Tarcísio de Freitas management justifies removal due to precarious conditions and risk to the population.

Public Prosecution Service investigations point out that the community also brings together infiltrated traffickers to supply the flow of drug users. The argument is contested by community leaders and groups contrary to vacancy.
