Spring brings not only beautiful weather, but also unwanted visitors to our homes. Ants can make the life of every housewife unpleasant. I tried a simple trick with an ingredient that you certainly have in the kitchen, and the result amazed me.
With the arrival of warmer days, many of us, especially those living in family houses or flats on the ground floor, meet with unpleasant visitors – Ants. Although these are not dangerous insects, no one will appreciate their presence in the home. How to get rid of them quickly and efficiently? It turned out that they do not like one product you certainly have in your kitchen. I tried it and really works!
When ants attack: My struggle with unwanted guests
“What do not like ants?” – This is exactly what I entered into the search engine when I saw a small ants army in my living room near the balcony door. I knew I had to act quickly so that their number would not increase yet. At first I pushed all the furniture that stood in the way of the ants, thoroughly sucking behind it and washing the floor with a mixture of water with vinegar. But that was not the end of my struggle.
A few years ago, the ants settled at the balcony door in my mother’s apartment. I remember she couldn’t get rid of them for a long time, although she tried different methods. So I was ready that the situation would look similar to me. However, I knew that before I went to the store for some chemical preparation, I wanted to do something immediately to at least temporarily eliminate insects from my neighborhood.
Vinegar: a quick but temporary solution
There are many advice on the Internet to fight ants in the home. One of the domestic methods recommended on the network is the use of vinegar. Since I always have vinegar at home and often use it, I immediately pour the outer window sill at the point where the ants were directed to my window. From the inside I sprayed the floor and window frame with a solution of water with vinegar, which I always have prepared in a bottle in a ratio of 1: 1.
The way with vinegar proved to be effective, because the ants quickly escaped and did not appear for some time. Its disadvantage, however, is (for those who do not like his odor, it is an advantage) that it will disappear quite quickly. After a few moments, the ants wandered again through the joint in the wall into my living room. I just had to leave the house soon and did not want to return to the apartment occupied by ants after two hours. I was nervously looking for another way I could use.
Miracle baking powder: cheap and effective way
I have read that ants do not like the smell of baking powder. He’s even poisonous for them. Since I had a large supply of this product, I richly sprinkled the “entrance” of the ants powder. I spilled it even more out of the garden (since I live on the ground floor in an apartment with a small garden).
I was very surprised when, at the moment of spilling the baking powder at the outer wall of the apartment building, all the ants that were there literally fled as far as possible in panic. I had no time for a longer observation, I left the house in the hope that when I came back, the condition would stay, but I did not completely believe it.
After returning, I immediately looked into the corner from which the ants had previously emerged, and was completely empty. But maybe not completely empty, because there was still a pile of powder into baking, but there was no ant.
This condition has been going on for several days and I am very positively surprised that baking powder really removes the problem with the ants in the home. I got rid of them quickly and it looks like effective. And I am very pleased that kitchen agent was enough, not some harmful, chemical.
I immediately called my mother and handed over her patent with baking powder to ants. I do not want them, but if they already appear, it is good to know how to effectively dispose of them. I can confidently say that baking powder repels ants. In addition, it is a fast, cheap and ecological way to get rid of ants. Chemicals are not necessary in this case what I have convinced myself.
