Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) presented on Sunday, 27, the first signs of spontaneous movement in the gut after his surgery on April 13. According to a medical bulletin at DF Star Hospital in Brasilia, where Bolsonaro is hospitalized, these signs are initial and the former president still needs to feed exclusively by parental nutrition.
The return of spontaneous intestinal movements is a central step in Bolsonaro’s recovery after the 13 -hour operation that released intestinal adhesions and rebuilt its abdominal wall to deal with complications of the stab wound in 2018, in attack during the presidential campaign.
The new medical bulletin also reports that Bolsonaro presented “progressive improvement” in liver exams that have worked over the course of the week. The delay in stomach emptying, however, remains. There is no forecast of discharge to the former president and the recommendation is that he does not receive visits.
Bolsonaro’s hospitalization was provoked by a sudden illness on April 11, during an agenda in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte. The former president had an obstruction due to a double bowel fold that hindered intestinal transit.
