With an agreement sent to take charge of the Brazilian National Team, Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, 65, changed his mind and should no longer close agreement with the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation).

According to the newspapers As and Marca, from Spain, the current Real Madrid coach made the decision after receiving a work offer in Saudi Arabia.

The club with which the commander should close was not revealed, but the proposal would be 50 million euros per year (R $ 321.6 million in the current price). The amount is higher than what CBF intended to pay to Italian, worth 6 million euros per year (R $ 38.4 million).

According to the newspaper Brand, Ancelotti personally called Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the entity, to inform his decision and thank the invitation.

It also weighed against the desire of the Confederation the impossibility of the coach to take command of the national team in June, as Real Madrid would only be willing to release him in August, after the FIFA Club World Cup dispute.

Also according to the Spanish press, although he made the decision to dismiss Ancelotti after the failures this season, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez began to refuse to pay the coach’s termination fine after becoming aware of the agreement sent between him and the CBF. The coach has a contract with the Spanish team until June 2026.

This was the second time the Italian was close to taking command of the Canarinho team. Last year, he also forwarded an agreement with Ednaldo Rodrigues, but turned back and renewed his contract with Real Madrid. At the time, it was at its peak, with brilliant campaigns in the Spanish Championship and the Champions League – to snap the two cups.

Faced with the withdrawal of Carlo Ancelotti, Jorge Jesus, currently at Al Hilal, from Saudi Arabia, is again the favorite to take over the Brazilian team. The Portuguese, who has commanded Flamengo, has expressed his desire to train the national team several times.

Although he does not have a comparable curriculum to Ancelotti’s, the Portuguese led Benfica to two Europa League finals, the second largest club tournament on the continent, as well as winning a Libertadores and a Brazilian championship for Flamengo.

The president of CBF is in a hurry to hire a new coach soon. He does not give up having a name at the head of the team to announce the 23 squads that will defend the country in the games against Ecuador, away from home, June 5, and Paraguay, in São Paulo, June 10, both for the qualifiers.

The wide list, with more athletes than allowed for the final call, needs to be sent to FIFA until May 18th. If a new coach is not hired there, it should be done by two CBF employees: men’s team coordinator Rodrigo Caetano and technical manager Juan.

The Brazilian team has been without command since the resignation of Dorival Júnior, in late March. The coach, who took over Corinthians this week, could not resist the oscillations ahead of the team. In 16 games under its command, the national team won seven wins, seven draws and two losses, 58.3% of the points, with 25 goals scored and 17 conceded.

In the qualifiers, Brazil occupies the fourth place, with 21 points, ten less than Argentina, which leads the dispute.

In the current format, the first six places guarantee a direct place in the 2026 World Cup. The seventh will still be entitled to compete for a recap.
