Opposition says Ronen Bar was in the prime minister after criticizing the government for security failure that allowed Hamas to attack Israel on October 7, 2023
The government of revoked, on Tuesday (29), the decision to dismiss the director of the SHIN BET Internal Security Agency, Ronen Bar, a measure that was blocked by the Supreme Court and which caused multipurpose protests. “The government has decided to revoke a decision of March 20, 2025” to dismiss a bar, says a document presented in the Supreme Court, which indicates that the appeals against the dismissal decision “have no reason to exist.”
The decision of the Israeli Prime Minister, to dismiss the director of the security agency was blocked by the maximum court and the case divided Israel. The opposition says bar was in Netanyahu’s sights after criticizing the government for security failure that allowed Hamas to attack Israel on October 7, 2023.
Bar rejected Netanyahu’s decision to dismiss him and states that the prime minister was based on “unfounded” accusations motivated by “personal interests.” The high security official said his dismissal aims to “prevent Shin Bet from investigating the events that led to 7 October and other serious matters.”
