Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, target of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), reached a verbal agreement to leave Real Madrid command, according to information published on Monday by The Athletic.
According to the publication, the official announcement of the departure can take place after the classic against Barcelona, leader of the Spanish Championship, next Sunday (11).
Also according to the site, the parties would have reached a financial agreement for the early end of the contract – the commitment between Ancelotti and Real Madrid runs until June 2026.
Since Dorival Júnior’s resignation, in late March, Ancelotti’s name emerged as the favorite of the CBF president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, to command the Brazilian team in the final stretch of the South American qualifiers and the 2026 World Cup.
Ednaldo had already tried to hire at the beginning of his administration in 2023, but failed to reach an agreement at the time after being removed from office by decision of the court and seeing Ancelotti renew his contract with Real Madrid.
With the position again vacant after the defeat against Argentina, the parties would have approached an agreement throughout April. The Athletic himself indicated at the end of last month that the departure of Real Madrid and the agreement with the CBF were already right.
When the ad already looked like a mere formality, however, the conversations cooled after a retreat signaled by the coach.
Difficulties in setting a contract termination with the Real Madrid board of directors and the interest of Saudi clubs were pointed out by the European press among the reasons for the indecision by Ancelotti.
The Portuguese Jorge Jesus, who runs out among those listed for the place in the Brazilian team, was fired from Al Hilal last Friday (2). Al Hilal himself was appointed as one of those interested in Ancelotti’s work and would be willing to make an offer above that presented by the CBF.
Also Luso Abel Ferreira, multi -champion with Palmeiras, also named the Brazilian National Team in recent days amid the uncertainty of the agreement with the Italian, but the club has denied any conversation with the CBF in this regard.
The CBF seeks a name to take over the yellow green team in the next round of the World Cup qualifiers. Brazil faces Ecuador on June 5, away from home, and takes Paraguay on the 10th, at the Neo Chemistry Arena, in São Paulo.
The five -time national team is fourth in the qualifiers, with 21 points, with four rounds to go to the end of the tournament. The first six guarantee direct place in the World Cup. The seventh dispute recap.
Director of CBF, Rodrigo Caetano said on Monday that a new name should be announced within a week.
“Even because of trading and confidentiality, it is practically impossible to talk about probability. We know it is a rational theme, extremely responsibility, but we intend to have this definition within the maximum period of next week,” said Rodrigo Caetano in an interview with SporTV.
