The senator (PL-RJ) received a government official on Monday, but stated that the meeting was not intended to discuss sanctions against the minister, (Supreme Court), as his brother, the licensed deputy (PL-SP), had appointed.
Flávio met in his office with Ricardo Pita, senior counselor for western hemisphere affairs in the State Department, the equivalent of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brazil.
“The subject here has nothing to do with sanctions, regarding anyone, as was dealt with there by the press. This meeting was not for that,” said Flávio, at the end of the meeting with Pita, which lasted just over 40 minutes.
Flávio was expected to meet David Gamble, interim chief of sanction coordinations of the State Department, which makes an official visit to Brazil. Only Pita, however, attended Flavio’s office.
Gamble’s visit had been announced by Eduardo. The licensed parliamentarian stated that the American would have meetings with Flávio and his own former president (PL).
The trip would reinforce, in Eduardo’s assessment, the possibility of the US applying sanctions to Moraes, as has been requested by scholarship congressmen.
