The Secretariat of Economic Policy of the Ministry of Finance (SPE) has revised its predictions for the growth of the Brazilian, raising the estimate from 2.3% to 2.4% in 2025. This update was released in the macrophiscal bulletin and reflects new projections for agricultural production, as well as expected growth of 1.6% in the first quarter of the year. Although the growth forecast has been adjusted upwards, SPE warns of a possible economic slowdown in the second half. For the year 2026, the expectation of growth remains at 2.5%, while the inflation projection, which was once 3.5%, has now been raised to 3.6%.
Reviews also affected estimates for the different sectors of the economy. Agriculture had its forecast increased from 6%to 6.3%, while the industry remained by 2.2%. The service sector saw its projection rise from 1.9% to 2%. The National Consumer Price Index (INPC) should end the year with a variation of 4.9%. In addition, the forecast for the General Price Index-Internal Availability (IGP-DI) was adjusted downward from 5.8% to 5.6%. The data presented in the Macrophiscal Bulletin are fundamental for the preparation of the Revenue and Expenses Assessment Report, which will be published soon, offering a more detailed view of the country’s economic situation.
