The current weather conditions in our country are conducive to mushroom pickers, which is why many of them went to the forest in search of specimens. What’s more, a large number of people came back with full baskets. So let’s know what mushrooms to look for in May and where to look for them to enjoy successful collections.
In May, with a little luck, we can come across individual mushrooms in the forest. Among the specimens that appear during this period, there are:
- Grandmother’s goats,
- buttermilk,
- brown mushrooms,
- boletus,
- smardze,
- Austrian cups,
- Żagiew scales,
- meadow mushrooms.

The search should also be carried out on the outskirts, in moist places, as well as the more sunny ones. There are also mushrooms in glades and meadows, and especially when talking about Austrian bowls or meadow mushrooms.

Good information is also that in the current weather there is no shortage of mushrooms in Poland, as evidenced by the data presented by Forsal.pl, according to which on the weekend of May 17-18 this year, mushroom pickers from all over the country informed about the appearance of spring mushrooms. According to these data, the mushrooms appeared in the areas of:
- Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship – In the forests there, mushroom pickers most often encountered browners. These mushrooms also referred to as bricks, wet and sunny places were covered.
- Mazovia – There was mainly mushrooms.
- Silesia – In the vicinity of Rybnik, as well as in the forests between Tychy and Pszczyna, mushroom pickers were also collecting bricks. In addition, their baskets also included meadow mushrooms and grandmother goats.
- Wielkopolska – This region was full of various species of mushrooms, among which there were specimens such as spring goose, alternating scoping, lilac ear or Żagwiak. In addition, mushroom pickers could enjoy really abundant collections and returned with a full basket.
