China’s president told the former US president that the two countries should “correct the course” of bilateral relations. The statement was made during a telephone conversation on Thursday (5), according to Chinese state agency Xinhua. “Correcting the course of the large Sino-American relations ship requires that we guide it well and define the direction, especially to eliminate all kinds of interference and even destruction, which is particularly important,” Xi told Trump.

Still during the call, Xi asked Washington to address Taiwan’s “cautious” issue in order to avoid a possible conflict. “The United States must address Taiwan’s issue with caution, so that separatists from Taiwan’s independence do not drag China and the US to the danger of conflict and confrontation,” Xi told the president, according to Xinhua.
