Vienna – The Austrian National Bank (OENB) spread hope for the economy in Austria on Friday. This year, GDP growth of 0.2 percent is expected. A third year in the recession can be averted. In March, the OENB predicted a decline in economic output of 0.1 percent. In 2026 and 2027, the central bank expects a gradual recovery with growth rates of 0.9 and 1.1 percent. “A swallow does not yet make summer,” dampens Birgit Niessner, director of the main department for economic analyzes, too much expectations. Nevertheless, she is convinced that the economy in Austria has reached the valley sole and from now on “again delicately uphill”.
