Marina Silva states that ‘we cannot allow setbacks and deadly blow to environmental legislation’

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, said on Thursday (5), in a statement in the national radio and television network, that there can be no setbacks in environmental legislation. The minister referred to the discussion of the General Law of Environmental Licensing, debated in Congress and which has supporters in the Esplanade, such as the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Favaro.

“We need to improve our public policies and our environmental legislation, but without allowing setbacks that lose a decades of decades of Brazilian society that can be proud to have one of the most complete and well -evaluated environmental laws in the world,” said Marina.

Marina warned about the attempt to apply a “deadly blow” to the legislation in the name of the “speeding of environmental licenses.” According to the head of the Environment, the current scenario charges for “more responsibility” of public agents. “We cannot allow, in the name of the streamlining of environmental licenses, a deadly blow to our legislation be dismissed, precisely when the ecological imbalance, which is accelerating climate change, charges us more responsibility,” said the minister.

In the statement, which lasted four minutes and 22 seconds, Marina also took stock of the president’s government actions (PT). She said management managed to halve deforestation in the Amazon and by 32% throughout the national territory.

Marina also said that the folder is putting the climate plan into practice, which works with “ambitious” goals and commitments against global warming. The minister also stressed that the government is guided by science, social justice and consistent investments in environmental policies. At the beginning of the statement, she pointed out that Lula has a “commitment to life.”
