Experts believe that although the dependence on oil is still a lasting reality, Brazil has a vast potential in clean energy sources
In a special event in celebration of World Environment Day, the governor of, highlighted the defense of the energy transition. During his speech, he presented a series of decarbonization initiatives, a topic of global relevance. Experts believe that although oil dependence is still a lasting reality, Brazil has a vast potential in clean energy sources such as solar, wind and hydroelectric, as well as ethanol. Tarcísio de Freitas announced that São Paulo will be the first Brazilian state to replace diesel with more sustainable alternatives.
The governor detailed the innovative projects being developed in São Paulo, including the use of first and second generation ethanol, biogas, biomethane, sustainable aviation fuel and hydrogen obtained from ethanol reform. He pointed out that biomethane, generated from ethanol plants and landfills, could be an economical and environmentally viable solution for waste collection and cargo transportation. Biomethane diesel replacement on trucks is seen as a promising alternative, although it is still in the early stages of implementation.
