A year after the flood: Deutschfeistritz continues to wait for flood protection

So quickly Andreas Reiter does nothing out of the fire brigade boots. The commander of the Deutschfeistritzer Floriani leans on a green bridge railing, under it the evil stream. “The stream is not for nothing,” says the 55-year-old. “It has been bad for centuries.” In the past, the stream has flooded the valley wrapped by mountains several times. A strongly sealed, tightly built -up place where the houses reach close to the water. But the floods have never been as bad as a year ago. There has been no comparable event since 1841.
