Pope Leo XIV appeals to responsibility and reason in the tension between Israel and will

Leader of the Catholic Church appealed to the construction of “bridges where there are walls today” in cities, for “there will be hope”

Pope Leo XIV called for “responsibility and reason” to Israel and Iran, given the “serious deterioration of the situation” between the two countries, and defended a commitment to a world free of nuclear threat.

“In recent days, deeply worrying news has come, given the serious deterioration of the situation between Iran and Israel at this delicate moment, and therefore, I wish to vehemently renew my appeal to responsibility and reason,” said Leo XIV, at a hearing in St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican at the time of Jubilee.

The Pope stressed that “the commitment to the construction of a safer world, free from the nuclear threat, must be sought through the respectful meeting and sincere dialogue to build a lasting peace founded in justice, fraternity and the common good.”

“No one should never threaten the existence of another and it is the duty of all countries to support the cause of peace, opening ways to reconciliation and promoting solutions that guarantee the safety and dignity of all,” added the Vatican head of state.

Rather, the leader of the Catholic Church appealed to the construction of “bridges where there are walls today” in cities, for “there will be hope.”

The Pope referred to the figure of Irineu, who was born in Asia Minor and then settled in Europe, to point out that “migrant communities are presences that rekindle faith in countries that welcome them.”

“The peoples are enriched to each other,” the Pope said.

Referring to Ireneu’s example that, “in a fragmented world, he learned to think better, increasingly concentrating his attention in Jesus,” Leo XIV said that “Jesus is not a wall that separates, but a door” that unites.

“We must remain in him and distinguish the reality from ideologies,” he said, considering that “ideas can go crazy and words can kill,” and “only God must be welcomed and contemplated in each brother and sister, every creature.”

Leo XIV insisted on building bridges.

“In our cities, we build bridges where today there are walls, we open doors, turn on worlds and there will be hope,” he added.

On Friday, the Pope received Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, and both agreed that pacification in the Middle East is increasingly essential after Israel’s attack on Iran’s nuclear program.

The Israeli army attacked the capital of Iran on Friday and caused at least 78 dead, including military leaders and scientists, and hundreds of injured, according to Iranian diplomacy

The Israelite attacks, made by 200 planes against a hundred targets, reached mainly Tehran (North) and the Natanz (Center) uranium enrichment center.

Iran Retalized launching hundreds of missiles against Israelite territory, with explosions recorded on the cities of Telavive and Jerusalem, which killed at least three people and left dozens of injuries.
