With parties from St. John, Chamber should be emptied in the coming days

The National Congress should have a slow pace of work in the coming days. The June festivities mobilize parliamentary in their electoral strongholds, especially in the northeast states, and should cause emptying in legislative houses.

The plenary of the House and Senate will have semi -presential sessions, which allow the vote of proposals remotely by senators and deputies, with voting registration by the application. Traditionally, St. John’s holiday period works almost as a “recess” for congressmen.

The scheduled agenda of the House on Wednesday (24) has remaining projects, with analysis agreed in previous weeks and without controversial themes. In the Senate, there is a forecast of voting of the bill that increases from 513 to 531 the number of deputies in the House.

Last Tuesday (17), the analysis of the proposal was postponed. Senate President David Alcolumbre (Union-AP) guided the proposal at Wednesday’s session (25).

The project needs to be voted on, according to the population census. If not voted by date, the new division should be made by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

Lisbon Forum

Even after the period of St. John, work in the House must have a slower pace. From July 2 to 4, parliamentarians and the president of the House, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), must be traveling to Lisbon (Portugal) to participate in an event promoted by the Supreme Court Dean (STF), Minister Gilmar Mendes.

The Lisbon Forum – known as “Gilmarpalooza” for bringing together several authorities of the Republic – is in its 13th edition. In addition to Motta, he has foreseen the participation of STF ministers, the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and the Federal Court of Audit (TCU), businessmen and the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet.

Before recess

After the period of “warm” rhythm in Congress, congressmen is expected to intensify work from the second week of June and make a concentrated voting effort to the parliamentary recess, which begins on July 18.

Among the predictions of voting before the pauses in the work is the priority project for the government that exempts income tax (IR) who earns up to $ 5 me per month. The rapporteur, Deputy Arthur Lira (PP-AL), hopes to vote the text in the special committee before the recess.

On the other hand, the opposition presses to be analyzed in the plenary of the House the project that overturns the decree on the elevation of tax rates on Financial Operations (IOF).

In a message to the government, and now expects a new government announcement about a possible decline in tax increases. Hugo Motta, however, denied that having set a deadline for the executive.
