Three days of snails and Mediterranean culture in Castro Marim

The Revili de Santo António, in Castro Marim, will be the scene of the Caracol International Festival, which runs from July 18 to 20, from 18:00, with free admission. The event combines live music, animation and gastronomy, highlighting the snail as the protagonist of the tasquinhas and celebration of the Mediterranean identity.

The official opening takes place on Friday, July 18, with street animation by Charanga Los del Ruedo at 18:30. The stage of the amphitheater receives, at 20:00, Sundays and friends, followed by the concert of fadista Fábia Rebordão, at 22:00.

On Saturday, July 19, the sparrows on the loose animate the enclosure from 18:30, preceding the Spanish spectacle Los Gurumelos at 22:00. The night ends with the performance of Luís Gomes, an algarve artist known for his themes of Latin influence.

Sunday’s program, July 20, starts with Eye’s 4 at 6:30 pm, followed by Jorge & Os dear concert. The closing of the festival will be marked by the show “Eis the Algarve”, starring the accordionist Nelson Conceição.

Over the three days, the enclosure will feature the traditional little tabs, boosted by local associations and clubs, where different snail recipes and other regional specialties can be tasteful. There will also be exhibitions of Spanish flavors, in a cultural sharing with the neighboring country, reinforcing the transionic ties with the Andaluza region.

Organized by, with the support of various local collectivities, the festival intends to consolidate the village as one of the main gastronomic destinations of the Algarve and to value the identity, products and culture of the Mediterranean.
