When Attorney General Pam Bondi reported President Donald Trump in May on the analysis of the Justice Department to documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, his name appeared in files, sources familiar with CNN confirmed with the matter.
The conversation, which also included deputy attorney-general Todd Blanche, was characterized by two White House responsible as a “routine briefing” that covered the scope of the Justice Department conclusions. The fact that Trump’s name appears in the files, they say, was not the only focus of the discussions.
Bondi also mentioned at the meeting that several names of important personalities were also mentioned, and that investigators did not find evidence of a supposed list of clients or evidence that refuted the fact that Epstein died from suicide, the same people tell CNN.
The sources familiar with the department’s review said the files seemed to include several unlick allegations that the Justice Department considered not being credible, including those related to Trump.
It was not clear in what context Trump’s name appeared in the files. Like many high -power people in New York in the 1990s, Trump was an Epstein acquaintance, who was dedicated to cultivating celebrities to increase his business. The revelation that your name appears in documents contributes little to increasing previous knowledge about your connections to the late sexual criminal.
“The White House is not surprised by this – Trump’s name was present in the dossiers that Bondi produced and distributed,” explains one of the White House employees, adding that many of the materials already released by the Justice Department included the mention of the president’s name.
“The White House doesn’t see this as innovative, new or surprising,” says the employee, adding that there is no evidence that Trump has been involved in any unlawful act.
“The fact is that the president expelled him from his club for being a scoundrel,” explains White House Communication Director, Steven Cheung, in statements to CNN, referring to Epstein. “This is no more than a continuation of the false news invented by the Democrats and the liberal media, such as Obama’s Russiagate scandal, about which President Trump was right.”
The Wall Street Journal that Bondi reported Trump in May about his name appears in the documents.
Revelations about the meeting contradict Trump’s latest denials about having been informed that he was in the archives.
Pressured last week about if Bondi had told her that his name was in the documents, Trump said, “No. No. She gave us only a very fast briefing.”
Trump has been striving to contain weeks of adverse reactions to the administration’s decision not to disclose more documents related to Epstein’s investigation – a measure that enraged a vocal segment of the Maga base and placed the president in disagreement with some of his fervent supporters.
Within the White House, employees were outraged by the fact that Bondi did not remove Trump from the materials available to the public contained in the Epstein folders distributed to the influencers in February, the sources said. The fact that it did not protect the president during the episode has been a longstanding point of discord between DOJ and the White House.
“The DOJ and the FBI analyzed the Epstein files and came to the conclusion on display in the memo of July 6,” said Bondi and Blanche in a statement. “Nothing in the files justified a deeper investigation or an accusation, and we presented a motion in court to unlock the underlying transcripts of the great jury. As part of our routine meeting, we reported the president of the conclusions.”
The White House has rejected attention to the Epstein Dossiers, arguing that it is diverting attention from the management’s achievements and helping Democrats’ efforts to harm the president.
But a growing and bipartisan chorus of legislators has been demanding total dissemination of documents, forcing Republican leaders in the capitol to shorten the legislative session to avoid a series of voting on the subject.
A report by last week’s Wall Street Journal – about a letter named Trump and the contour of a naked woman that was included in an album offered to Epstein by her 50th anniversary in 2023 – also increased the pressure on Trump.
Trump has denied having written the letter and has since been processing the Wall Street Journal for the publication of the article.
