The Great Debate: Would Governors affront STF with a position to Eduardo?

Commentator José Eduardo Cardozo and economist Marina Helena discussed, this Friday (25), in The Great Debate (Monday to Friday, at 11 pm), if governors would violate the Federal Supreme Court (STF) by appointing federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro to a state position.

Measure to preserve mandate of the parliamentarian is being reevaluated by state management allied with pockets, as it could generate an STF reaction.

Cardozo understands that in addition to the Supreme Court, the law and the Constitution would be affronted.

“If I appoint someone to achieve a purpose that is not that strictly from office, but to prevent a person from being revoked in his term or will lose his mandate, it has a name in the right that is ‘deviation of power’,” he said.

“This act offends the principle of morality and legality. This will give rise to the governors to be subjected to misconduct actions, which will be proposed against them and that they will not only have economic damage, but can also place them in a situation of loss of political rights,” he said.

Marina does not see an affront in a possible appointment.

“Eduardo Bolsonaro, at that time of the championship, would be an asset for these governors, because who can negotiate with the Trump government some better agreement than what is today at the table?” He said.

“I have no doubt that the governors themselves, when they have invited this hypothesis, saw it as an asset. […] But undoubtedly the STF would find a pretext, as he has done to pursue all the right, to perhaps revoke the mandate of these governors, to make them ineligible, to completely take these leaders from the political game, ”he continued.
