Republican Senator raised concerns about possible calls with Chinese companies
United States President Donald Trump called on the “immediate” resignation of the new US giant’s CEO of Intel of semiconductors and processors, after a republican senator raised concerns about possible connections with Chinese companies.
“Intel’s Executive President (CEO) [no cargo desde março] It faces a serious conflict of interest and should be immediately dismissed. There is no other solution to this problem, “Trump said in a publication on his Social Truth platform this Thursday.
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton sent a letter to the group president, Frank Yeary, to express “concern” with possible links between Lip-BU and companies that “have calls with the Chinese Communist Party and the popular liberation army.”
“Tan controls dozens of Chinese companies and holds participations in Chinese semiconductor companies and advanced industry,” Cotton accused in the letter, specifying that “at least eight of these companies have calls with the Chinese army.”
The US senator also pointed out that the former Intel Executive company Cadence Design Systems “stated guilty of being illegally sold” products “to the University of the Chinese Army and having transferred, unlicensed, technology to a Chinese company.”
“Much misinformation circulated on my old positions at Walden International and Cadence Design Systems. I want to be absolutely clear: in over forty years in the sector, I established relationships around the world and (…) I’ve always exercised more rigorous legal and ethical norms,” Lip-B tan was defended on Thursday, in a message to the company’s Intel employees.

Liu-BU Tan also assured that “fully shares the president’s commitment to promote the national and economic security of the United States,” emphasizing his “love” in the statement.
Malaysian-born American, 65-year-old Lip-BO Tan, began his nuclear career before launching his own investment fund, specializing in digital technology, particularly in Asia.
He took on Intel’s leadership last March, when it was clear that the company, once leader in the sector, did not take advantage of the turn of Artificial Intelligence (IA), now clearly behind its competitors, such as Nvidia.
Intel ended the year 2024 with better results than expected, but with perspectives considered too weak by the market.
