“Our university was the only Slovak university again in the Arw’s ranking. This ranking has extremely demanding criteria, a large part of the evaluation consists, for example, the holders of Nobel prizes or Fields medals we did not have at our university in the period under review,“Rector of Charles University Marek Števček said.
The Shanghai ranking rated more than 2,500 educational institutions to make a list of 1000 best universities in the world. It focuses primarily on the evaluation of science and research through six indicators, including the number of graduates and researchers with the Nobel Prize or Field medal. Other indicators are the number of researchers with the status of a highly visited researcher, the number of publications in Nature and Science magazines, the number of publications indexed in the Science Citation Index-Expanded and the Social Science Citation Index.
