United States President Donald Trump ranked his meeting on Monday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other European partners as “very good” and said he started preparations for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Zelenskiy after a later connection with Putin.
According to Trump, safety guarantees for Ukraine – provided by European countries in coordination with the US – were discussed during the meeting.
“At the end of the meetings, I called President Putin and started preparations for a meeting, in a place to be determined, between President Putin and President Zelenskiy,” Trump said, adding that US Vice President Jd Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkoff should deal with preparations with both countries.
