During his visit to the White House on Monday (18), the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky presented US President Donald Trump with a special golf club-a gift from a injured Ukrainian soldier.
The club belonged to Kostiantyn Kartavtsev, a sergeant who lost his leg in the early months of the Ukrainian presidential office.
The golf became part of the sergeant’s rehabilitation, Zelensky told Trump when delivering the gift.
“The Chief of Staff (Zelensky) has also shown a video in which Kostiantyn Kartavtsev appeals to the US President to help Ukraine end the war with just and lasting peace,” Ukraine presidential office said in a statement. “Donald Trump accepted the gift, recorded a video thanking the Ukrainian warrior for the golf club and handed the Ukraine president the White House symbolic keys.”
The exchange of gifts represents another change of tone compared to Zelensky’s previous visit to the White House, when Trump and Vice President JD Vance harshly criticized the Ukrainian President ,.
On Monday (18), Trump and Zelensky-a remarkable difference from the interaction they had in February, after a right-wing reporter criticized Zelensky for not using suit.
Zelensky, wearing a black campaign jacket, black shirt and black social pants, played with the same reporter: “You are with the same suit. I changed, you don’t.”
