There are images that say more than a thousand words. These, captured by the patron photographer Abranches Mateus, show well the trail of destruction left by the fire in the Serra do Açor, in Piódão.
From the intense green of the Serra do Açor to the black, with small green points “surviving”, left by the passage of the flames in Piódão, Arganil municipality.
These images show one of the most beautiful landscapes in the central region of the country reduced to ashes, devastated by the violence of the fire.
At the top of the mountain, at a maximum altitude of 1242 meters, the MONTE DO COLCORINHO Nª Srª Da Needs, elected one of the 7 environmental wonders of the entire county, shows a destroyed landscape. Behind, on the horizon, a cloud of smoke of what is still left of the fire that insisters to remain present.
