99Food, the company’s 99 delivery arm, recorded results above expectations at its first week of operation in São Paulo, said the company’s director of communication, Bruno Rossini, in an exclusive interview with CNN Money.
The platform, started its activities with 20,000 registered restaurants.
The company has adopted an aggressive strategy to gain market, zeroing specific fees to help establishments rethink price composition.
According to data from Abrasel (Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants) cited by the company, of the 1.4 million active restaurants in Brazil, about 30% cannot offer options for options delivery due to the costs related to the platforms.
Experience in Goiânia
In Goiânia, the first city to receive the service in June, 99food made 1 million deliveries in 45 days, reported Rossini.
The platform had over 20,000 restaurants available, of which 8,000 made orders daily. Approximately 10% of the local population made more than one request during this period.
The company confirmed that it adopts exclusivity contracts with some selected establishments, justifying the practice as a market protection strategy.
99food promises to offer up to 15% lower foods than other platforms, as well as generate greater profitability for restaurants.
The platform plans to expand its operations to other Brazilian cities in the coming months, maintaining its focus on increasing the total volume of deliveries in the market.
