Mercado seeks people to work 8 days a month in Spain: Learn the value of the salary

The Mercado Supermarket chain is hiring new employees for an unusual work model: just eight days a month. According to the Spanish newspaper ABC, the company chaired by Juan Roig has launched job offers to various locations in Spain, with fixed contracts and salaries that can go to 855 euros, plus complements.

Mercado’s proposal includes a 15 -hour weekly contract, distributed in two days of work per week. According to the same source, this regime guarantees a gross monthly remuneration between 632 and 855 euros, depending on salary progression.

In addition to this modality, the chain also offers contracts of 20 hours per week, with salaries ranging from 843 to 1,140 euros, and 40 hours per week, with salaries that oscillate between 1,685 and 2,280 euros. In these cases, the time can be fixed or rotating, including shifts in the morning and afternoon. The newspaper writes that some posts also include the payment of supplements, such as the additional by night work.

Wanted profiles and functions

The jobs cover different areas within the store. According to the same source, future collaborators can perform functions in sections such as replacement, fishmonger, Characutarian, boxes, cleaning, bakery, fruit and vegetables, meat or ready to eat.

The company points out that no prior experience is required, as it provides paid training and ensures times defined in advance. Adds the publication that this flexibility is one of the factors highlighted by the company, by making the monthly scale available on the 20th of the previous month.

New Employment Portal

In addition to opening vacancies, Mercado also renewed its job portal. It refers to the publication that this digital tool has been designed to simplify applications, allowing interested parties to create a unique profile and receive proposals according to their preferences.

The new system replaces the previous one, where it was necessary to register the data each time it was responded to an offer. Now, the site explains, just maintain a single active profile, which can be updated manually or linked to LinkedIn.

Proximity to candidates

The portal also features additional features, such as videos that show everyday life at different posts, helping candidates better understand what it is like to work in the company. According to the newspaper, this approach allows the market to identify talents and proactively contact candidates who correspond to the profile of vacancies, even if they have not responded to a specific offer.

Currently the company looks for collaborators in several Spanish cities, including Miranda de Ebro, Lugo, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Burgos, Granada, Lleida and Valencia, among other locations.
