Vienna – The government’s plan to set up a database for price observation along the supply chain of food from next year is “very ambitious” from the perspective of the responsible statistics Austria. “We don’t have the data,” explains the new specialist statistical general director Manuela Lenk in the APA conversation. One has been open to new tasks, but have not yet been contacted directly by the government and will take a closer look at how this can be implemented, says Lenk. With the database announced at the government exam this week, which the statistics Austria should build according to the ministerial council decision, the government wants to identify unjustified price policy along the value chain and thus counteract inflation in the food sector.
