In the east of Slovakia, the first and second level hydrological alerts pay on Monday afternoon. In addition, meteorologists of the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMI) declared for the territory of Eastern and Central Slovakia Storm alerts. SHMI informed about it on his website.

Hydrological alerts of the second degree before tidal floods apply in districts Medzilaborce and Košice surroundings. For the districts of Košice, Stará Ľubovňa, Sabinov, Gelnica, Spišská Nová Ves and Rožňava, the first stage of warning applies.
„Due to the tidal collisions during storms, we assume a temporary significant local rise in water levels, especially on small streams with the possibility of achieving and exceeding water conditions corresponding to the levels of flood activity. There is a prerequisite for the occurrence of accompanying flood phenomena outside the streams, ”said the Institute for the Hydrological Alerts of the Second Stage.
In addition, they apply to the entire Banská Bystrica, Košice, Prešov and Žilina regions as well as for the districts of Ilava, Považská Bystrica, Prievidza and Púchov first level warnings before storms. They will be valid until 23.00.
According to meteorologists, storms may be accompanied by strong winds. It can reach a speed of 65 to 85 kilometers per hour in impacts. Thunderstorms may also be associated with a sharp downpour with an intensity of 20 to 30 millimeters per half hour and hail.
“The intensity of the accompanying phenomena is common at a given time of year and area, but can cause minor damage to. Human activities and health are at risk for thunderstorms, ”warned meteorologists.
