At a meeting convened by President Lula, Chinese agent states that ‘we must remain firm in promoting the construction of an open global economy’
The Chinese president, he urged the block, formed by 11 countries, to “resist all forms of protectionism” in a summit due to video conferencing on Monday (8). “We must defend the multilateral commercial system with the World Trade Organization as a core and resist all forms of protectionism,” he told his speech to the group, which includes, India, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.
“Regardless of how the international situation changes, we should remain firm in promoting the construction of an open global economy, sharing opportunities and getting beneficial results for all through opening,” Xi added. President Luiz Inacio da Silva called this virtual meeting to discuss the defense of multilateralism.
