Artificial intelligence caused a real shot of the attacks on phishingwhich have reached alarming levels in Brazil and America in the last 12 months, according to a 2025 cyber threats report, released on Tuesday morning (9) in Manaus (AM) by the Kspersky cybersecurity company during Cyber Security Week.
No phishingan old and widely known type of attack, cybercriminals send malicious links to potential victims, either by email, SMS or message applications, to, such as passwords and financial information. This is a simple attack mode, that is, it depends that the victim is fooled and voluntarily click on the malicious link, infecting their devices or even proactively sharing their information.
According to the report, in Brazil were blocked 553 million attacks by phishing in the last 12 months – An average of 1.5 million per day, or 2.6 attacks per inhabitant. Again, the sport has consolidated itself as the main digital threat in the country.

Name Latin America, There were more than 1.29 billion attacks blocked between July 2024 and July 2025, an increase of 85% in relation to the cut of the previous period (2023 x 2024). Between 22 and 2023 were 286 million attacks.
And the reason for this is one: AI. The study shows that criminals are increasingly exploring the use of artificial intelligence to make attacks more sophisticated.
“This type of attack is simple, does not require much knowledge. An inexperienced criminal can implement several such attacks and now with a more legitimate and scale language, because AI allows it,” explains Fabio Assolini, director of Kaspersky’s global research and analysis team for Latin America.

Automation tools have allowed the creation of more convincing false messages that mimic legitimate communications of banks, companies and public agencies. In addition, Assolini explains that phishing-as-a-service platforms offer ready-made infrastructure for criminal groups to launch campaigns on a large scale, reducing technical barriers to crime.
Although Brazil also records high numbers of attacks from other modalities, such as malware (408 million blocked attacks) and ransomware (549 thousand incidents, with 12% increase over the previous cycle), phishing stands out for its direct impact on ordinary users. And the popularization of SMS (SMISHING) and messaging applications has expanded the reach of campaigns.
