After Vitor Belfort’s withdrawal, Ambelino “Popó” Freitas was confirmed as Wanderlei Silva’s new opponent at Spaten Fight Night, an event that will take place in Sao Paulo. The replacement occurred after Belfort was dismissed for medical reasons.
The event emerged as a rematch for the duel between the former MMA folds, but the moment had to be postponed again indefinitely. With this, Popó took the place to duel against Wanderlei.

What was Vitor Belfort’s injury?
During the final training, Belfort suffered a grade 3 concussion, which led doctors to recommend immediately of the activities. With this, he was officially removed from the event card.
In a video published on social networks, the former MMA fighter regretted the situation. “I waited for this moment for almost 30 years. Unfortunately, I suffered a serious injury and I need to prioritize my health,” he said.
The first meeting between the two took place in 1998, at UFC, with Belfort knocking out Wanderlei in 44 seconds in São Paulo. In 2012, the two would face each other again, when they participated as coaches of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter Brazil, but the fight was canceled after another Belfort injury.
