We bring you an overview of the most important foreign events and something extra. Today they were prepared for you by the editor of the foreign department Barbora Libayová.
In the foreign selection, you can read in addition to the tense pre -election duel to disturb the Polish airspace with Russian drones. But the topic is also the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in the US, Nepalese protests accompanied by violence and victims, and and last but not least we will look at what awaits us this week.
A month before the parliamentary elections, the Czech Republic is coming to a close duel. The government coalition together (ODS, KDU-ČSL, Top 09) is significantly lagging behind the opposition movement YES, by more than ten percent. Therefore, in an effort to reverse the unfavorable situation, politicians participate in the last election meetings and ask voters to forgive mistakes.
At the same time, they warn them of the possible convergence of the country to Russia. Their campaign also reflects the deep uncertainty, which was also expressed by one of the voters in Prague: “Babiš will still win,” a woman of pre -retirement age told Aktuality.sk and added, “I no longer trust anyone.”
Many voters are frustrated. This skeptic is understandable – confidence in the government of Petr Fiala fell to a weak 25 percent in the middle of its parliamentary term.
Despite the tense atmosphere, Prime Minister Petr Fiala tried to dialogue at a meeting in Prague. Instead of long lectures and speeches, he devoted time to personal communication with citizens: “I am very glad to see you so many. Those who have come to express their support, even those who disagree.”
He hinted at the protesters who chanted “Fiala to the Hague!” And he said, “Come to me and talk.”
At the same time, the current Prime Minister openly expressed concern about the election result. “And I have to admit that for the first time since November 1989 I am also worried,” he admitted. He warned especially against the victory of “populists and extremists”, such as Andrej Babiš, Kateřina Konečná and Tomio Okamura.
According to Fial, the victory of the opposition could move the Czech Republic “somewhere east”, which would change its position abroad respected, “one of the safest in the world” and the economically prosperous country “which is now an integral part of the West”.
He also found consent among some voters. There are concerns about the Slovak scenario between a part of the Czechs: “Not that they will pull us to Russia, as they did with the Slovaks. The Slovaks are already in Russia,” said the 72-year-old voter.
Dissatisfaction with the economic situation
Numerous complaints of citizens also appeared at the meeting, especially for the economic situation. Although official statistics talk about a decline in poverty, many people struggle with low incomes.
One of the participants also pointed out this problem at the meeting. “You haven’t given us a single crown and you added thousands to your hundreds of a thousand,” he accused him. He was referring to a recent increase in politicians’ salaries.
Fiala has long been talking about increasing wages and the rising trend of real wages. While some blame the current government for the unfavorable economic situation in the Czech Republic, according to others, it is caused by the previous government. However, it is clear from the meeting that he failed to convince everyone.
A report from the election meeting was prepared by a colleague Václav Lang. You can read more about the attitude together with Israel and Palestine, or the moods of voters and non -voters of the current government coalition.
Russian drones disrupted the airspace of NATO
They use them in Ukraine: The Polish airspace was repeatedly disturbed by Russian drones at night. According to the available information, these were shahid drones, which Russia normally uses in attacks on Ukraine. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that this was an extensive attack, recorded up to 19 disturbances. He also stressed that Poland is ready to respond to any provocations.
Instant shooting down: Warsaw described this act as an act of aggression and ordered their immediate shooting down. In response, the Polish army deployed F-16 and F-35 fighters, as well as combat helicopters that shot down at least three drones posing a direct danger. According to analysts, most of the drones actually shot down the Dutch, who help Poland to guard do not worry. Although the incident did not claim any victims or injuries, the Polish government for the severity of the situation was extremely met.
Dangerous Precedens: Poland shot down enemy drones above its territory for the first time. The authorities temporarily closed part of the airspace and called on residents in the Eastern regions to stay at home. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Greenyr, the incident described the incident as an extremely dangerous precedent, as Moscow pushes the boundaries to NATO airspace.
The incident caused immediate international reactions. The Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz is in constant contact with the NATO headquarters. EU chief EU diplomacy Kaja Kallas assumes that the disruption was intentional, and warned that the Russian war was not ending but escalating. She therefore called on to increase pressure on Russia, to strengthen support for Ukraine and invest in European defense.

Bloody Nepalese protests and political chaos
Intervened with full force: Non -burning is shaking deadly protests that have already claimed more than 20 victims. Although they were initially launched by a controversial ban on social networks, the main cause is long -term dissatisfaction with the government and the growing corruption. The situation escalated to such an extent that Prime Minister Khadga Pigs Sarma Oli announced resignation to calm the tense atmosphere. Police used tear gas, rubber projectiles and, according to the human rights organization Amnesty International, even sharp ammo, which led to the death of 19 people and injuries to hundreds of others.
Symbol of resistance: Protests do not have clear political leaders, but are led mainly by young people, especially from the generation of Z. They have organized themselves through social networks. In an effort to suppress dissatisfaction, the government has banned 26 social platforms, including Facebook and WhatsApp, but has abolished the ban after massive violence and death of demonstrators. Young people in the protests pointed to corruption and inequality, even by means of hashtags such as #nepobabs that revealed the diametrically different lives of children of influential politicians compared to ordinary citizens.
In the photo, which I prepared with my colleague Samuel Škultéty, you will learn more about the current situation in Nepal and who is actually protesting.
Shot by a prominent conservative
Trump’s supporter: During a speech at the University of Utah, they shot 31-year-old Charlie Kirk, one of the most influential conservative activists. Kirk, who was the founder of the non -profit organization Turning Point USA and loud supporter of the Mag President Donald Trump Mag, was hit in the neck. The death was confirmed by Trump himself, who on the social network Truth Social expressed deep sadness and called Kirka a “legend”.
In the US polarized: Charlie Kirk was an important personality in the American political environment. Through his US Turning Organization, he actively mobilized young conservatives on hundreds of university campaigns and played a key role in an effort to attract them to Trump’s movement. His organization in the elections massively invested in the decisive states, which has earned strong support and favor of Donald Trump. For many, Kirk was the future of conservative activism in Trump’s side, but at the same time he was an extremely polarizing figure in the US.
Recall Charlie Kirk’s life through a profile written by Pavol Štrba about a conservative activist.
The Turkish dissident warns of prison against the return of fascism
The role of the media and censorship: Turkish writer and journalist Ahmet Altan, who spent five years behind bars, openly talks about censorship, totalitarian regimes and the role of the media. He points out that nationalism and hatred that have led to tragedies in Turkey today sees again to grow throughout Europe.
Authoritarianism also threatens Europe: Altan was accused of inciting the coup and, despite poor evidence, sentenced to life imprisonment. But even the prison he considers to be the worst right after his death did not break him. He wrote on, and his books, including the work “I will never see the world”, have become a symbol of freedom. The dissident points out that although Turkey has never experienced a real democracy, Europe is also in danger of authoritarianism.
In an exclusive interview with Samuel Škultéty for Aktuality.sk he compared Nazi Germany to the Ottoman Empire and emphasizes that historical lessons from the past is crucial.
