In fuels, gasoline fell by 0.94%, ethanol retreated 0.82%and vehicle gas, 1.27%.

Paulo Teixeira celebrated the reduction in the five -pound rice bag. “Let’s say the flagship of this deflation is rice. With the influence of the drop in prices of housing, food and beverage groups, Brazil had negative inflation of 0.11% last month. The result is 0.37 percentage point below that recorded in July, according to the broad consumer price index (IPCA) released on Wednesday by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

This is the first negative index since August 2024 and the most significant since September 2022. In the accumulated 2025, inflation is 3.15% and, in 12 months, at 5.13%, below 5.23% registered in the previous 12 months. According to the minister, “it is important to say that this has nothing to do with the tariff. The rate was previous, it was in June that food deflation began and will continue this trend, with the government acting. President Lula has the theme of inflation control as one of his largest concerns,” added Teixeira.
