Pindorama, also known as Brazil, is in fact the country of football. The most loved sport by Brazilians will be responsible for gathering more than 40 ethnic groups in the Multiétonic village, located in Chapada dos Veadeiros (GO) – the territory is dedicated to strengthening cultures and political struggles from various indigenous peoples.
The competition, conceived by the agency Four x Entertainment, aims to be a showcase for villagers who dream of a professional career in the sport. The event is supported by the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples and the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation).
Anuiá Yawalapiti, Cacique in the Multiéthnic Village, celebrates the event and states that it will be the largest in the cultural diversity segment. According to him, the cup brings hope to the youth that never had the opportunity to show its sports potential.
“Football is a passion of every Brazilian even in the indigenous land,” said the chief. “So, let’s make the Indigenous People Cup in the multi -ethnic village, because we are of different colors, cultures and peoples.”
“This cup will bring together a lot of ethnic groups. Our young people need this, not to get the way wrong. So we have to bring these young people and educate them. The competition will be very beautiful. I hope that brings the most union the indigenous peoples,” he continued.
The tournament will be held into four stages, divided between regions in the following order: Midwest, Northeast, South/Southeast and North. The games are expected to take place between October 21 and December 6. Each phase will have five days.
According to Libya Miranda, executive director of Four X and project creator, the event also aims to boost technicians, referees and indigenous reporters, as well as athletes. She explains that the program will feature courses aimed at these other areas.
“The cup was born of the desire to build bridges, so that new generations, such as my son, for example, have more conviviality and knowledge about the indigenous peoples, about our ancestry. I only got to know an indigenous after my 40s,” he said.
Four X estimates a budget of $ 4 million for each step. The appeal, captured through sponsors, will be invested in transportation, food, classes, equipment, and other costs.
“There are 600 indigenous people on stage, from the departure from their territory to the arrival in the multi -deed village. Five days of work until they come back, and we continue. The work does not end these days, it begins. We will follow the ethnicities over two years so that they have CNPJ and can access their sponsorship, either by incentive or amendment law,” Miranda said.
The CBF has established support with the organization of the cup on the 5th. The country’s top football entity will provide full uniforms for official athletes and balls, as well as trophies and medals with indigenous identities for awards.
“It is a milestone of historical reparation, the inclusion of indigenous peoples to a sport of Brazilian culture. So, first, I am flattered to give this support to the Indigenous Peoples Cup. The confederation wants to evolve, and that we can take indigenous athletes to our national team and for professional clubs,” said Samir Xaud, president of CBF.
