The Argentine court suspended on Tuesday, 16, the prohibition of media to publicize the sister of President Javier Milei’s sister illegally recorded during political meetings-a restriction that journalistic organizations have classified as an attack on freedom of expression.
It was Karina Milei herself who asked the civil judge Patricio Maraniello to annul the preventive measure she had propelled earlier this month after the publication of the conversations. The content of the audios does not allude to any illicit, but exposed the vulnerability of the dome of power. In them, Karina Milei-Secretary-General of the Presidency-tells her unidentified interlocutor that “we can’t get into a fight between us. We have to be united.”
The government immediately reported to court “an attack on one of the leading figures of the national government through a gross non -institutional intelligence operation.”
