Images that were transmitted by the broadcasters show the moment when Simeone reacts to provocations from the stands. Surrounded by security guards, the commander gestured and crashed with a group of Reds fans, in a clear sign of irritation with the defeat suffered in the final minutes and the hostility of the environment.
True to his temperamental style, Simeone again did not contain himself in the face of pressure at the English stadium, famous for his “cauldron”. He was eventually expelled by arbitration. The confusion occurred shortly after Liverpool’s goal of Van Dijk’s 47th half.
