The UN again votes on the ceasefire in Gaza, waiting for the US position, which proposals repeatedly veto

The proposal for ceasefire and assistance in Gaza, which was initiated by the members of the Council, has the support of the majority of members. However, it is expected to encounter the attitude of the United States, which in the past similar challenges to stop the fighting have repeatedly blocked their right.

The United Nations Security Council is likely to vote on the latest call to the ceasefire and improve humanitarian approach to the Gaza Strip on Thursday. Most of the 15 members support these efforts despite the repeated venture of the US, TASR reports according to AFP report.

Discussion is a reaction to the UN Declare statement in the Gaza Stand

Ten unstable members initiated a discussion on the current draft resolution at the end of August. They responded to the UN official statement on famine after almost two years of war in the Gaza Strip.

The previous proposal demanded the removal of obstacles in providing assistance, but diplomatic sources for AFP stated that France, Britain and Russia are skeptical to a resolution focused exclusively on the humanitarian area.

The proposal calls for a humanitarian aid and also requires an immediate ceasefire in Gaza

The proposal, which is likely to be voted on Thursday and which has been examined by AFP, calls on the disclosure of humanitarian aid and “requires immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, which will respect all parties”. It also calls for immediate and unconditional release of hostages.

The United States has rejected such an approach several times when they used the right of veto to support its ally Israel. The veto has caused a wave of disagreement by 14 other members of the Council who seem to be unable to put pressure on Israel to stop the suffering of the population in the Gaza Strip, writes AFP.
