When the first picture of the shadow of a black hole was published in 2019, it was a sensation. The recording was blurred, but showed a black hole as one imagined: as a dark, lightless spot. This stain is not the event horizon from which no light can escape, but a phenomenon of the shining acceleration disc. The event horizon is located inside this spot and is again significantly smaller.
