On September 2, two center-right parties, União Brasil and Progressives, announced the departure of the Brazilian government and demanded the resignation of the two ministers who have in Lula’s executive
The Minister of Tourism of Brazil, Celso Sabino, said President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva who will resign in the coming days, after an ultimatum of the center-right party to which he belongs.
According to the public news agency Agência Brasil, Sabino visited on Friday the official residence of Lula da Silva, the palace of Alvorada, where he kept a conversation of more than an hour with the president.
The minister should remain in office for a few days to fulfill some commitments, with the expected departure for next week, when Lula returns from the UN General Assembly in New York.
The organization of the UN Climate Cimeira, COP30, which takes place in November in the Brazilian city of Belém, has been one of the projects in which Sabino has worked more closely with the Brazilian president.
On September 2, two parties from Centro-Right, União Brasil and Progressives, announced the departure of the Brazilian government and demanded the resignation of the two ministers who have in Lula’s executive.
The affected ministers are the holders of Tourism Folders, Celso Sabino, and Sport, André Fufuca.
But União Brasil then gave 24 hours for all leaders appointed at the party’s suggestion, mostly at secondary levels and state -owned companies, fired.
This after the publication of a news that linked the party president to the first command of the capital (CCP), the largest criminal group in the country.
The report – prepared by five journalists, including Leonardo, host of a state television – accuses the president of União Brasil, Antonio de Rueda, to owner of aircraft operated by the CCP.
An accusation rejected by Rueda.
The report includes the testimony in which pilot Mauro Caputti Mattosinho told the Federal Police that the politician owns at least four aircraft operated by an aeronautical company linked to “crazy Beto” and “cousin”, which are being investigated for alleged money laundering for the CCP.
In mid -August, União Brasil and progressives announced the formation of a federation in Parliament, an agreement that allows them to function as a single party in the legislature, although they maintain their organizational independence.
The new federation, called Progressive Union, has the largest bench in the National Congress, with 109 deputies and 15 senators.
So far, part of its deputies supported government policies in the legislature and another part voted in line with the opposition.
One of the main advocates of the rupture with the government is Senator Ciro Nogueira, president of Progressives and former Presidency Minister during the government of Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022).
Nogueira publicly stated that he considers embarrassing that the party remains part of Lula’s government.
