Recognition of the Palestinian state with three countries brings a new impulse to a two -state solution. The Palestinian government has described this as a step towards a permanent peace.
The countries that recognized the Palestinian state this week have taken an irreversible step that maintains a two -state solution and approaches Palestinian independence and sovereignty, was declared by Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekjan Šáhínová. Reuters reported this on Sunday shortly after Britain, Canada and Australia officially recognized the Palestinian state, TASR writes.
“Now is the right time. Tomorrow is a historic day on which we have to build. It’s not over,” Shahinova told journalists in Ramallah. “It is a step that brings us closer to sovereignty and independence. It may not end the war tomorrow, but it is a step forward on which we have to build and strengthening,” she added, referring to almost two -year war between Israel and the Palestinian militant Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Sunday that the United Kingdom has officially recognized the Palestinian State, despite the disagreement that the US and Israel faced from such an announced step. The same announcements were released immediately before Starmer by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
This step was also highlighted on Sunday by President of the Palestinian self -government Mahmud Abbas, AFP reported. “His excellence appreciated the recognition of an independent Palestinian state by the United Kingdom and confirmed that this is an important and necessary step towards the achievement of a fair and permanent peace in accordance with international legitimacy,” said Abbas’s office in a statement.
