The London Court liberated the rapper of the Kneecap group accused of promoting terrorism. The accusation was dismissed for the invalid indictment procedure.
The London Court liberated a member of the North Irish rap group KNECAP from charges of promoting terrorism. According to the court, the accusation was made too late. The incident occurred in November last year at a concert in the British metropolis, TASR reports according to the AFP report.
Twenty -seven -year -old singer Liam oga oga ó Hannaidh, acting under the artistic name of the MO Chara, was accused in May for the flag of supporting the Lebanese militant Hezbollah movement, which is led in Britain as a banned organization.
Judge of jurisdiction
Judge Paul Goldspring said at the beginning of the hearing that it was not to decide on guilt or innocence, but whether the court was in case of jurisdiction.
The defense argued that there was a legal error in the way in which the singer was charged, because the indictment did not comply with the six -month legal deadline. The judge agreed with this view.
“I believe that this procedure has not been initiated in the correct way. As a result, the accusation is illegal and invalid and that court does not have the power to discuss it,” Goldspring said.
The band rejects violence
The band, known for its confrontational style and Irish nationalist messages, denied that it would support violence or forbidden groups. She stated that the video recordings, after which the investigation began in April, were “deliberately taken out of the context”.
KneeCap became one of the most controversial music bands during the summer. Many of her concerts were canceled and the band members banned – for their distinctive propalestine attitude – several countries enter their territory.
Criticism of Israel
In recent months, the music trio from Belfast, Northern Irish, has been on the front pages of the media for sharp criticism of Israel for his military offensive in the Gaza Strip.
