Red Bull Bragantino expressed his repudiation of Flamengo’s action on Saturday, which obtained an injunction at the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice to block the transfer of R $ 77 million to members of the Brazilian Football League (Libra).
The amount is part of one of the previously agreed installments between the clubs and TV Globo, referring to legally established payments. According to Bragantino, modifying rules halfway disrespects commitments, including the previous management of Flamengo.
See Red Bull Bragantino note
Red Bull Bragantino publicly repudiates the conduct of the Flamengo Regatta Club. Even after signing an agreement with Libra (Brazilian Football League) and TV Globo, it obtained an injunction with the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice to prevent the transfer of R $ 77 million to members of the Libra.
The amount, which concerns one of the installments of payments related to the hearing, was previously agreed legally among the clubs. Changing the rule halfway disrespects all efforts made, including those of the previous management of Flamengo himself, who made this commitment.
Regardless of size and tradition, Brazilian football will not reach its maximum potential if each club thinks solely and exclusively in its well-being.
Red Bull Bragantino continues believing in the union and a good relationship between all parts that can turn national football into a much more attractive product inside and outside the country.
Understand Situation
Flamengo conflicted with the other Libra teams regarding TV transfer agreements and appealed to court to guarantee the transfer of R $ 77.1 million from Globo, referring to the second installment of the transmission rights of Brasileirão 2024.
The action generated a strong reaction from the other clubs of Libra, connected in May 2022 with the proposal to modernize national football.
The disagreement of the carioca club focuses on the distribution of values according to the hearing of the matches.
The current contract provides that 40% of rights are also distributed among Libra clubs, 30% vary according to the final position in the championship, and the remaining 30% are determined by the hearing.
Arguments and reactions
Flamengo argues that the contract between Libra and Globo does not specify the amount corresponding to each transmission platform (open, closed and Pay-Per-View), making it impossible for the precise determination to pay 30% for the hearing.
In response, the pound issued a note repudiating the lawsuit, stating that Flamengo prioritizes short -term particular interests over the collective.
Atletico Mineiro expressed regret for the decision. For Bruno Muzzi, CEO of Atlético-MG, the Rio team questioned the group itself.
“I see Flamengo’s action with a sadness for Brazilian football. For the sake explicitly and solely political, he questions his own group. There is no more conversations with Flamengo, unless it is in court forms,” says Muzzi.
Grêmio, on the other hand, evaluates that the attitude of the carioca club harms negotiations with LFU for the creation of a National League.
“Flamengo is passing the message that it is against the league, because the Bap clearly said that it does not accept only 3.5 times more than so -and -so. If you get Laliga, Premier League, Bundesliga, all leave this premise. So we know this is another internal fight of Flamengo, Landim, and that it is overhang,” Alberto Guerra, president of the gaucho club.
