It was a gala on all levels: Austria celebrated the biggest win in the association’s history with 10-0 in the home game against San Marino, taking the lead in the qualifying group and having a new record goalscorer in Marko Arnautovic. The 36-year-old scored his 42nd, 43rd, 44th and 45th goals and overtook the previous record holder Toni Polster (44th). Since Cyprus managed to draw 2-2 against Bosnia-Herzegovina in the 97th minute in the parallel game, Austria is now two points ahead, with one game more to play and the difference being nine goals better.
