When a relationship breaks down, practical questions quickly arise: Who keeps the apartment? Who gets which inventory? But often the separation only becomes really difficult when a dog, cat or other pet is involved. For many people, pets have long been family members – but in some areas they are still considered “things” by the law. This means that heart and law do not always speak the same language.
