The leader of the Chamber, (RJ), filed a criminal complaint with the Attorney General’s Office () against the former first lady. The deputy calls for the opening of an investigation into possible crimes against public administration and acts of administrative improbity related to the Pátria Voluntária program, created in 2019 under the government and coordinated by Michelle.
The action was presented after parliamentarians from PL, Jair and Michelle Bolsonaro’s party, filed 15 draft legislative decrees with the aim of stopping a decree by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva that reorganizes the Personal Office of the Presidency to offer logistical support to the public activities of First Lady Rosângela da Silva, the .
In a statement, Lindbergh stated that the Bolsonaro offensive against the decree is “a senseless persecution” and promised to react. “I want to vehemently repel the unnecessary persecution against First Lady Janja Lula da Silva, with the protocol of 15 PDLs without a legal basis, and renew that the attacks will be retaliated against eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth,” he declared.
According to the deputy, Lula’s decree only formalizes administrative support for the first lady, without creating new positions, expenses or political powers. “There is nothing illegal, unlike what Bolsonaro’s group did when they were in power,” he stated.
The representation is based on a ruling by the Federal Audit Court (TCU) that identified irregularities in the execution of Pátria Voluntária. According to the audit, the program operated “without constitutional and legal support”, allowing the Civil House to manage private resources raised by public campaigns without budgetary control, transparency or technical criteria in choosing the benefiting entities.
The document points to signs of embezzlement, malfeasance, criminal association and administrative improbity. Lindbergh cites, as an example, the case of the Brazilian Transcultural Missions Association (AMTB), nominated by then minister Damares Alves without a selection process. On his social networks, the PT leader compared the case to the treatment given to the current first lady and criticized what he called a “disinformation campaign orchestrated by the extreme right”. “The irony is that those who today try to pose as guardians of morality are the same group that used the public structure for personal and partisan purposes,” he said.
Lindbergh’s statements come days after Michelle Bolsonaro criticized Lula and Janja at a PL Mulher event in Rio Verde (GO). At the time, she called the presidential couple “a little couple that demonizes Israel” and accused Janja of preventing the president from attending evangelical churches.
