US President Donald Trump would consider allowing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resume fighting in the Gaza Strip if the Palestinian militant movement Hamas refuses to honor its part of the cease-fire agreement. Trump said so on Wednesday to CNN, adding that Israeli troops could return to Palestinian streets “as soon as I say the word,” reports TASR.

  • Trump supports Israeli actions if Hamas does not comply with the ceasefire.
  • Israel accuses Hamas of violating the hostage agreement.
  • Hamas defends itself with the problems of finding the bodies of the hostages.
  • Trump’s plan includes disarming Hamas and amnesty for members.
  • The peace agreement involves 59 states, including regional support.

“What’s going on with Hamas will be resolved quickly.” Trump said. CNN recalls that Israel accuses the Palestinian group of violating the agreement by not handing over the bodies of all the remaining hostages.

According to the fourth point of Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, Hamas was supposed to hand over the hostages alive and dead within 72 hours of the end of the fighting. This deadline expired on Monday at noon. But Hamas has not returned all the remains and says it is having trouble finding the bodies of the hostages.

Since Friday, October 10, when the ceasefire in the war with Israel came into force, Hamas commandos have already killed at least 33 people in the Gaza Stripmostly members of rival groups or persons accused of collaborating with Israel. The US president said Hamas was “eliminating violent gangs”. When asked whether Hamas also kills civilians as part of these executions, the president answered: “We’ll find out what it’s about. It could be more than just gangs.”

The sixth point of Trump’s 20-point plan is that after the hostages are handed over, amnesty will be granted to those members of Hamas who commit to peaceful coexistence and surrender their weapons. Hamas members who wish to leave Gaza will be granted safe passage to third countries.

If Hamas refuses to disarm, “Israel will be back in the streets as soon as I say the word,” Trump declared. “If Israel could come in and deal with them harder, it would” claims the US president. According to his words, he had to stop the Israeli armed forces and the government. “I made it clear with Bibi,” he said, referring to the Israeli prime minister.

However, according to CNN, the American president commented with optimism about the long-term prospects for peace, especially given the strong support of other countries in the region. According to him, 59 countries are part of the peace agreement, while, according to the American station, he was apparently referring to the countries whose representatives participated in the peace summit on Gaza in Egypt on Monday.
